It’s already Milan Fashion Week and what would be Milan without Gucci’s delectable fall 2011 line. If Tom Ford, Marc Jacobs and Norman Ambrose have been the designer leads of lush, sexy 70’s style returning with more revved up glamour, surely Frida Giannini’s was prime to command the train. After a sleek and bright colorful spring 2011 collection, Giannini picks up right where she left off this time adding more of the disco decade’s staples in the mix: colorful furs and fox stoles, floppy fedoras and sexy snakeskin knee boots. Yet, there’s refinery that we haven’t seen in many of the collections from designers who latched on to the trend. The woman Giannini creates is clearly a sophisticated albeit prima donna ready to strike while the iron’s hot: Think Network’s Faye Dunaway meets Bianca Jagger with a whole lot of Diana Ross in Mahogany in the mix. And can we say we admire!
